TexasArcheryAcademy.org offers Programs for the developing archer.

At our Elm Fork outside ranges we offer the public and members several ways to begin exploring archery (for further illustrations visit our “images” gallery):

1) Intro to Archery

NOTE:  During the Winter months, the Intro to Archery class is being held at the Texas Archery Academy (TXAA) indoor range in Plano.  Start time is 11:00am Saturday, and 6pm Wednesday.

Texins Dallas Archery ClassClass is held every Saturday, 10:00 – 11:30am (except for Holiday weekends and bad weather), at the TAC  outdoor range at Elm Fork (see map on home page). The perfect way to experience archery. All equipment is included in your $10 (cash only) fee, or you may bring your own. Includes a brief discussion of history. safety and equipment. Demonstrates different styles of shooting and illustrates ways of enjoying archery.Your instructor then supervises you actually shooting! You are guided through the fun of picking up a bow for the first time (or in a long time), and leave with the confidence of having a well rounded introduction, and the resources to explore the sport further. Instruction features INSTINCTIVE style of shooting. You will quickly be able to hit what you can see! No reservations needed for groups under 10 people, minimum age 8 years. Open to the general public, and costs $10 per person. Check in 15 minutes early at the Practice Range to register and pay class fee (cash only). We try to limit class to the first 12 shooters. If an overflow of participants, we may hold a second class from 11:30 to 1pm. Club requires that parents remain at the range during the seminar for children under the age of sixteen in attendance.

Weekly Intro to Archery classes are also held indoors at the Plano indoor range.

2) Archery 101-201, Drop-in Clinics, and JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development).

Texins Dallas Junior Olympic Archery DevelopmentThe next step in developing your skills for all ages. Archery 101-201 are multi-session courses. Drop-in Clinics are held to work with a coach on structured drills to help the developing archer. Our JOAD Club is open to students ages 10 to 20. This program is designed as an ongoing supervised JOAD Team training session. Certified instructors and/or the Coach works with the students on USA Archery’s National Training System.  For additional information please email Tony Fontana

3) Private Instruction in a selection of archery styles:

INSTINCTIVE style – Instruction features INSTINCTIVE style of shooting, using “swing-draw” method. You will quickly be able to hit what you can see! Rate $25.00/ hour for a private lesson, $10 more for additional shooters, all equipment is provided – by appointment only, email Lessons

Texins Dallas Freestyle Archery CoachingFREESTYLE – Want to get that new compound bow tuned in? Problems with your shooting form? You can do a two hour Tune my bow and form for $50. Lessons

TOURNAMENTS – For competitive training, a certified coach can help with your preparation to shoot tournaments. Lessons

4) League/Tournament Shoots

Texins Dallas League and Tournament Shoots Tournaments and leagues are hosted on a regular basis outdoors and indoors depending on format and weather. These are posted on the website and notices are emailed to membership. Normally  Youth and Cub (under 14) are free or minimal cost, $10-$20 for all other classes. We hold regular indoor leagues for the competitive and developing archer. Tournaments throughout the state are calendared on the TexasArcheryAcademy site.

5) Group Event Shoots (Youth & Adult). Email Events for information.

Texins Dallas Archery Birthday Party HostingTexins Dallas Archery Party HostingOur club does host events such as Birthday parties (ages 8 and up), and groups such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Indian Guides (Y-Guides) and Indian Princesses (Y-Princesses). We have lots of adult archery introduction classes also. Cost is $10.00 per shooter (age 10 and up) and $25.00 per instructor/hour (2 hour minimum).

Our instructors are qualified for Boy Scout merit badge counseling. We offer a Saturday (9am to noon) merit badge seminar (by appointment) at our range for scout troops (minimum of 12 scouts) that want to pass a class of scouts through the entire requirements. The cost is $75 per instructor, and $10 per scout.  All equipment is provided. The scout is required to have read the merit badge pamphlet in advance, and complete the workbook test. We also host off-property events/fundraisers for your group. Choose between Intro to Archery format featuring balloons, a thirty target 3D tournament (alligator to dinosaur), or …  Contact Clint Montgomery to explore details.

 

 

6)  Club sponsored Seminars/Field Trips:

7) Community Programs

NASP (National Archery is the Schools Program). We supply facilities, equipment, and instructors to schools interested in teaching archery. This program is sponsored by Texas Parks & Wildlife. The On Target campaign provides portable archery ranges at public events – taking archery to the public!

8) Hunting Opportunities

Members receive internal email notice on club-organized hunting opportunities! Trips are normally club organized hunts – which include deer, hog, bowfishing, and bird.
